...L'idea:

In recent years, fashion brands have invested significant resources in the construction of large stores, poster, or flagship stores, engaging in a kind of competing for the most prestigious locations, to build the most spectacular structures, involving several prominent design Notice of the international architectural scene.
The world capital of shopping (Tokyo, Paris, New York, London and, more recently, Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Seoul) have thus opened one after the other, sometimes side by side stores large, often coinciding with isolated multistorey buildings, stores no longer simple but real buildings which reflect the spirit of the legendary house of the first couturier. Luxurious, beautifully detailed, are the "house brand", in which the customer has not only to buy but to make an experience, and experience a lifestyle consistent and also through special cultural events and entertainment. Cafes, restaurants, beauty salons, saunas, libraries, museums, fashion shows, exhibitions or concerts, to make it multi-functional character of places, landmarks, municipal and real tourist attractions.
The architects called by the designers - from top to Koolhaas, Herzog & de Meuron by Gehry, by Ito Fuksas Sejima - are not limited to design containers refined for these new functions, but have conducted a thorough reflection on the relationship between fashion and architecture and succeeded with the proper tools of discipline to shorten the distance between two seemingly different subjects - one focused on life on the ephemeral and the other on the continuous renewal - and trace the outlines of a new type.
The book explores the phenomenon by reviewing high quality buildings that are significant fruits of that reflection. The flagship not only translate them into built form, the seduction, the lightness, fluidity of fashion, but reproduce the dilemmas and the search for meaning, triggering new ways of using spaces and placing maintaining strong links with the city.
The texts that describe the projects always show the peculiarity of the relationship between client and architect of the complex and related intellectual process that led to individual choices.
